I have a Seagate Goflex Home drive (NAS) which had been reformatted for OSX 10.10.2, on a MacBook Pro early 2008, with SSD 512G--all that works fine. The NAS drive seems to be spinning (no grinding or clicks) and I can see any external drive hooked up to the USP port on the NAS base. I can also login to the drive (as a NAS drive) either from the finder (as I have for the last year or so) or FTP, and see the first level of shared drives (GoFlex Home Backup, GoFlex Home Public, etc.). There are NO files or directories beyond the first level of shared directories. They have just disappeared. One day they were there and the next, they were gone.

Anyone else recover from this problem? I've even connected the drive to a USB port (SATA to USB) and can't see anything -- the drive does not even show up in Disk Utilities. Is the drive just trash now? Is there any way to rebuild the directories besides sending this off to a (VERY expensive) disk recovery service?
